A furnace in the middle of the Courtyard
My friend/tour guide told me that Daoists are very pragmatic people and don't take their religion too seriously. When they die they get the Daoists priests/monks to burn offerings to send with them in the afterlife. See those kind of reddish robes on stands beside the furnace to the right? Well they're made of paper and are very intricate and expensive! The deceased's family purchases them for their loved one so they'll have fancy clothes in the after life. But these days they also have paper replicas of fancy cars (porsches, Rolls Royce (I guess)) as well as iphones and ipads, any moderny convenience that the deceased might want in the after life and they all go into the furnace too.
